An excellent opportunity has arisen for an IT Helpdesk Engineer to join our clients award-winning team in Sheffield.


The successful candidate will have previous experience in an IT Helpdesk or support role, and will be able to comfortably and quickly diagnose and fix the majority of desktop issues.


Experience and familiarity with more advanced desktop skills, like troubleshooting start-up problems, investigating problems with Microsoft Office and other common client applications. Configuration and Administration of Active Directory would also be advantageous.


The ideal candidate will be someone who works hard, communicates well and is keen to learn.


You will be eager to develop your existing technical support skills, learn new ones and be confident communicating with clients by phone and email.


Providing award-winning IT support to clients, your key duties and responsibilities will include:



  • Working through assigned support tickets, taking ownership of issues to resolution or escalation

  • Managing technical requests, whilst prioritising and dealing with them effectively.

  • Having the ability to work to targets and meeting service level agreement.

  • Fixing issues whilst causing minimal disruption to the clients.

  • Setting NTFS file permissions

  • Investigating problems with Microsoft Office and other common client applications.

  • Setting up a firewall/router including port-forwarding


Person specification



  • Preferably have some knowledge of networking in terms of different types of internet connectivity

  • Possess an understanding of the basic principles of virtualisation.

  • Enthusiastic about delivering excellent customer service

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of our clients values

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Be a team player

  • Follow the processes and procedures to ensure a good job every time

  • Having previous experience in the following technologies would also be advantageous; Networking (hardware and software) on Windows Server 2000-current, and SBS 2003-current, Windows Client Operating Systems (XP to 10), Mac OS X, Office 2003-current, Exchange 2003-current, Internet and email (including VPNs, DNS, IP, routers and firewalls), Wireless Networking, Backup Software.


Working hours are Monday to Friday: 09:00am - 17:30pm
