Heritage Collections Manager
My client, a government organisation is looking for a Heritage Collections System Manager to join their strategic Estates Team to deliver a comfortable and safe environment for members and staff.
This is a new team and an opportunity to be part of a team which are operating on a hybrid working model. The best suited candidate will have previous experience in Project Management, experience of successfully delivering change, and proven ability to build effective and collaborative working relationships.
Job Purpose
The Systems Manager will have primary responsibility for managing the collection information system (CMS). They will play a critical role in the technical development, assessing impact and being accountable for the function with (HCT) Heritage Collections Team. They will be instrumental in leading the Team through a project to eventually re-procure a CMS.
* Manage the CMS, and act as an advocate and subject matter expert for HCT, providing detailed knowledge and advice during the exploratory phase (phase 1) of the re-procurement of the CMS.
* Develop existing work undertaken by an external consultant and coordinate a requirement gathering exercise, engaging a variety of stakeholders.
* Develop collaborative working relationships within the Heritage Collections Team.
* Liaise with key digital stakeholders namely the Digital Service Manager and Technical Applications Specialist Manager (i.e., contract manager).
* Ensure that contracts are specified.
* Represent HCT in meetings and projects where there is a Heritage Collections and digital interface.
* Be accountable and report to the Heritage Lead for Storage, Standards and Collections Management.
* Work closely with the Collections Information and Registrar teams to ensure optimum usage of CMS and support documentation aims.
* Enable and support the R&R Heritage Documentation Team and Decant workstream including CMS needs for the Joint Object Assessment Framework and troubleshoot issues identified at the Conservation Working Group and Documentation Working Group.
* Experience of operational management of a collections management system, including support and training of users and implementation of upgrades.
* Experience of working with large sets of formatted data, including spreadsheets and xml files. Experience of working with internal and external IT suppliers.
* Line management and project management experience.
* Risk mitigation and planning skills.
* Proven ability to build effective and collaborative working relationships including with external teams and providers.
* Ability to maintain momentum and 'buy in' from key stakeholders to achieve project outcomes to schedule.
The successful candidate will be required to attend the office in London, on a hybrid working pattern.
