We have an exciting opportunity at Totally Local Company to join our established team as a HGV Vehicle Technician. The role will be to assist the Workshop Manager and the team to maintain the company's infrastructure with regards to our fleet and customers; ensuring we have an operational and road worthy fleet of vehicles.
The role will be to ensure that the fleet vehicles are maintained to the highest standards in line with the manufacture's standards and DVSA. The role will contribute to the safe, lawful, efficient and professional operation of the Company's and customers' vehicles and plant.

New exciting opportunity in Stockport to join an established team as a HGV Technician. The role will assist the Workshop Manager along with the team to maintain the HGV's, ensuring they have an operational and road worthy fleet of vehicles.


Salary: £29,990/year


Hours: 40 hours per week, alternate weekly shift pattern



  • Schedule maintenance and repairs on the fleet of vehicles and equipment to include light and heavy vehicles



  • Safety inspections, services and PDI's to manufactures standards in line with the required criteria, as outlined in the DVSA (HGV/PSV) inspections manual



  • Prepare and submit HGV vehicles to DVSA approved test facility for annual MOT testing, carry out MOT and Taxi testing including QC, on all vehicles at our Mot station, including private and light commercial vehicles and carry out diagnostic repairs using computer based diagnostic systems.



  • To maintain computer and written records of all jobs from start to finish to include repairs carried out, parts used, start and finish time, total hours taken, time VOR etc.



  • To maintain written records of all work against individual vehicles/plant in accordance with DVSA regulations, manufacture standards and company requirements.



  • To ensure you work in a safe manner and in compliance with all H&S regulations and policies. Ensuring the safety and welfare of yourself and others at all times, including the requirement to follow all site rules.



  • Undertake evaluation of breakdowns, road calls and or vehicle recovery and implement appropriate action. To ensure the service has maintenance cover 24/7 and arrange a call out system as required.


Ideal candidate



  • Proven technical/mechanical experience of working in an HGV workshop.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of mechanics, electrics and hydraulics systems.

  • Ability to undertake vehicle and plant safety inspections to manufacture and DVSA standards.

  • To have knowledge of the relevant legislation associated with workshop and fleet maintenance.

  • MOT Nominated Tester (Class IV & VII), Motor Vehicle Technology (Heavy) City and Guilds - Part 2 and 3 or equivalent - NVQ Level 3.

  • Full clean drivers licence Class B + E
