3 MONTH ASSIGNMENT


MONDAY - FRIDAY 9am - 5pm


IMMEDIATE START



Main responsibilities of a highway inspector:



  • Carry out inspections of all carriageways and footways on set routes determined by highway responsive maintenance systems, including suspected defect sites reported by members of the public.

  • Use a highway responsive maintenance system Mayrise (or alternative) to access highway inspection and repairs order information, word processing, digital photography and e-mail computer software.

  • Assist with traffic management arrangements resulting from incidents affecting the operation of the highway and in restoring the network to normal operation

  • Liaise with the responsive maintenance contractor, arrange and take part in site meetings to agree defect problems found and remedial works required.

  • The review of temporary traffic management arrangements and the required temporary traffic management orders at specific sites including liaison with utility companies and emergency services.



A Highway Inspector must have:



  • Knowledge of highway maintenance and management issues

  • Full current UK drivers' licence or other driving licence valid on UK roads

  • Up to experience in highway construction, maintenance or management

  • Experience involving highway construction materials, techniques and specifications

  • A minimum of experience in undertaking either highways or street works inspections

  • Ability to use optical and digital cameras and electronic capture devices
