Grade : Admin Officer (AO) Salary: Temporary - £11.10 p/hr + 34 days holiday

Fixed Term Contract - £21,431

Initially temping whilst going through training and live work and if you are successful, you will be considered for a Fixed Term Contract with HMPO for up to 22 months.

The Job as Customer Contact Officer you will be based on a telephony contact centre and will be responsible for a variety of customer focused activities relating to passport applications and certificate orders. This would be done by phone, email, and social media . You will need to go gain a full understanding of the legislation, process and security around this (training given). On occasion the role may differ, and you may be asked to carry out other duties within the scope of the grade and within the limits of your skill, competence, and training.

The Ideal Candidate would need to have excellent communication skills both verbal and written and above all a professional approach to be able to understand the needs of customers as well ability to solve problems. Ideally experience in a customer facing environment would be an advantage. A flexible approach to work and able to work in a team in a fast past and busy environment. You will also need good IT and Excel skills

The Hours . This team operate from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 8.45am to 5.30pm on Saturdays . You will be working on a rosta basis between these times and need to be available for early /late shift. Over the week you will work 37 hours.

The rosta will include working 1in 3 Saturdays with a day off the proceeding week.

NB: the manager will discuss the roster when you start

To be successful you will need to pass a screening process and will be able to answer yes to ALL the following questions:


  • Resided in the UK for the last 3 years 

  • Have a *current* British Passport or settlement status due to the sensitive nature of the work 

  • NI Number  

  • 2 x proof of addresses i.e. utility, bank letter/statement (all in UK) 

  • 5 years full history address with no gaps of more than 1 month 

  • 3 years solid reference history with no gaps of more than 1 month
