Adecco are delighted to assist an outstanding engineering client based in Hampshire, who are recruiting for a full time Horizontal JIG-Borer on a permanent basis.


Purpose of the job:


This role is pressured at times to meet our long-term customer goals and a degree of flexibility will be needed to meet their requirements as your operation at times will be the final one prior to shipping to our customer.


Main duties and responsibilities:



  • Sets up and operates numerically controlled jig-boring machine to perform machining operations, such as boring, drilling and counter-sinking holes in metal work-pieces according to drawings, specifications and setup instructions, applying knowledge of metal properties and machining methods: Studies drawings and setup instructions to determine machining required, dimensional specifications, and work procedures and methods.

  • Installs work-holding devices, such as blocks and clamps on indexing table of machine, using hand tools and inserts cutting tool in spindle of machine

  • Lifts work-piece manually or with hoist and positions and secures it on machine table or in holding device.

  • Sets conventional cams, stops, and dial-type switches on machine head as indicated on setup instructions if machine spindle is not under numerical control.

  • Inspects and measures dimensions of machined work-piece to verify conformance to specifications and shop standards, using precision measuring instruments, such as precision gauges, dial indicators, micrometers, and calipers.

  • Monitors machine operation and display panel of control unit for indications of malfunctions.

  • Notifies supervisor if machined work-piece does not conform to specifications or if machine malfunctions.


Skills and Abilities



  • Ability to work to very tight tolerances with the minimum of supervision.

  • Experience with diamond jig grinding of hard anodizing in temperature-controlled area.

  • Experience of using Kaiser boring heads.

  • Able to make own tooling: tips cutters extensions etc. when needed.

  • Ability to read detailed aviation and military drawings with tight tolerances.

  • Can produce complex tooling and fixturing when require.

  • Inspection of your own work is key with the ability to work closely with our inspection team to meet the required goal.


Any other relevant, reasonable ad-hoc duties that may be requested


Package:


£13 - £15 per hour - 40 hours per week


Permanent Full Time Role Mon-Fri
