Job Title: Housekeeper

Location: Canterbury, Kent

Salary: £18,278

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 6am-8pm and 1 in 5 Saturday's (day given in leiu during the week) you may be asked to work evenings or weekends if there is a function or event happening.

Purpose of Role

To respond to additional requests for support from the housekeeping team. There is an expectation that when entering a room or area to clean, all staff will first carry out a survey of the room, noting any damages to be repaired by Estates team or any carpets to be cleaned. As a member of the Estates & Facilities there is a collective responsibility to ensure that all rooms are presented in the best possible manner.

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

  • Provide housekeeping services across multiple sites at short notice.

  • Drive between different site locations.

  • Empty bins, dust, vacuum, polish and cleaning, including bathrooms.

  • Report any maintenance faults to management.

  • Set rooms up for lectures, events, conferences when necessary.

  • Clean and make beds during summer conferences.

  • Assist with functions such as open days and public events.

  • Complete other duties as required by the Supervisor and Manager.

  • Make collaborative decisions.

  • Think on your feet to solve day to day problems with a limited number of options.

  • Plan and prioritise your own workload to ensure daily tasks are completed on time.

Experience and skills required for this position:

  • Clean, UK driving licence

  • Ideally you will have a qualification in cleaning but not essential

  • Previous experience of cleaning on a large scale

  • Ability to follow instructions
