£15.86 HOURLY RATE (PAYE)


IMMEDIATE START



JOB PURPOSE:


To work with a team of Initiatives Officers in the development and operation of supply initiatives to reduce homelessness, and maximise the supply of private sector accommodation, ensuring all cases are dealt with in accordance with the law and Council policy.



MAIN DUTIES:



  • To ensure that all households for whom the Council has a statutory duty to secure emergency accommodation are provided with suitable accommodation, to liaise with landlords and tenants; and discharge duty when required.

  • To provide an emergency placements service on a referral basis.

  • To produce payments to landlords in respect of deposits and bonds.

  • To ensure accommodation costs are within budget constraints and at the same time to optimise supply on a daily basis.

  • To identify and recommend areas where external and internal funding can be maximised.

  • To negotiate with accommodation providers in order to deliver the best possible outcome for customers

  • Reviewing and making recommendations for improving systems of work within team and with external departments and sections

  • To maximise rental income for landlords through housing benefit and to conduct affordability assessments for tenants and applicants

  • To reconcile monthly invoices from registered social landlords and accommodation providers in respect of their leasing and management services



THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:



  • Experience of working in a social/private sector housing environment or related field

  • Experience of working with Private landlords and lettings agents

  • Experience of dealing with members of the public in sometimes stressful situations where their expectations cannot always be met.

  • Experience of using a range of software packages including database, MS Word and spreadsheets
