MONDAY - FRIDAY 9am - 5pm


3 MONTH ASSIGNMENT (POSSIBILITY OF BEING EXTENDED)

HOUSING INITIATIVES OFFICERS MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • To work with a team of Initiative Officers in the development and operation of supply initiatives to reduce homelessness, and maximise the supply of private sector accommodation, ensuring all cases are dealt with in accordance with the law and Council policy.

  • To make the most appropriate, equitable and cost-effective use of available resources, ensuing all lettings comply with statutory requirements and the Councils policies.

  • To ensure that all households for whom the Council have statutory duty to secure emergency accommodation are provided with suitable accommodation, to liaise with landlords and tenants; and discharge duty when required.

  • To provide emergency placements service on a referral basis.

  • To contribute to the development of policy, procedures and practice, and to the achievement of the Section's aims, objectives and targets.

  • To participate in appropriate projects relevant to the role of the team within and outside the Section as appropriate.



A HOUSING INITIATIVES OFFICER MUST HAVE:



  • Experience of working in a social/private sector housing environment.

  • Experience of dealing with members of the public in sometimes stressful situations where their expectations cannot always be met.

  • Experience of using a range of software packages including database, MS Word and spreadsheets.
