An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housing Solutions Officer to join a public sector organisation based in Essex. The role is a temporary role, paying £16.81 per hour PAYE and £22.52 per hour Umbrella.


The role will provide an effective, professional service on behalf of the organisation including offering a full range of advice on housing options in the private and public sector, ensuring a comprehensive homelessness prevention service.


The successful applicant will have experience providing housing advice and homelessness service to members of the public. The successful candidate will also have experience and detailed working knowledge of relevant Lettings, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Housing Act legislation including security of tenure and private tenants' rights; welfare benefits including personal benefits and housing related benefits.


Key duties will include



  • To develop, update and review Personalised Housing Plan for customers on behalf of the organisation in light of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. This will ensure that homelessness is prevented or relived through active engagement with the organisation and private sector services

  • To drive the organisation's reduction of temporary accommodation expenditure by ensuring that all other avenues are explored, and clients are diverted away from use

  • To take proactive steps to prevent and resolve crisis across the housing, health and social care agendas

  • To make high quality, timely and accurate homeless decisions, making appropriate referrals to other services where a housing duty may not be owed or is coming to an end

  • To understand the challenges and complexities around homelessness today, the impact that homelessness has on families and single people, and have a commitment to addressing housing issues and reducing homelessness

  • To provide an effective, professional homelessness service including assessment and investigation of homelessness approached and applications in line with the organisation's statutory duties under the Housing Act 1996 Part 7 and relevant case laws and local policies
