PURPOSE OF ROLE:


1. The role of HR Business Consultant (HRBC) has a generic role profile. The role profile covers Directorate facing work, corporate (cross-cutting) policy and project work. Each HR Business Consultant will report to a HR Business Partner, as allocated, and undertake appropriate aspects of the role. Work will be allocated in line with the clients's Corporate plan and the priorities in the Core HR&OD work programme.


2. At the Directorate level, HR Business Consultants will provide business focused HR advice and solutions that add value, and deliver results, so that the Directorate/ Departments supported can deal effectively with people management aspects of business planning and service delivery. HR Business Consultants may support one or more Directorates/Departments.


3. Each HR Business Consultant will be expected to support their HR Business Partner in ensuring all corporate HR responsibilities are adequately covered, and acting as the corporate guardian where appropriate to support corporate governance.


4. At a Corporate level, HR Business Consultants will participate in corporate (cross-cutting) policy development and project work, applicable to all Directorates, in line with the clients's Workforce Strategy and Action Plan. This includes ensuring implementation of legislation, providing advice on best practice or providing specialist inputs into projects which have application across all Directorates.


5. Each HR Business Consultant will be expected to work flexibly and be able to undertake all aspects of the role profile, within a matrix management environment.


Someone who can work with the team day to day, embedded with us, attending all meetings who can then understand the context of situations and can write up whatever is necessary.
Someone who will attend HR meetings but always works day to day with ICT and Property services staff.
Someone who is focused.
Someone who can own any departmental re-organisation.

Getting them evaluated by an independent person
Getting vacancies advertised
"blind" long listing candidates
"blind" Shortlisting candidates
Establishing a four person "mixed" interview panel
Chairing interview panels

All matters relating to Discipline
Managing mediation
Informal interviews to establish fact
Establishing independent hearings
Keeping minutes
