To partner with the site leadership team to provide best practice HR expertise, ensuring delivery and implementation of the annual people plan whilst working collaboratively with the Head of HR and wider HR team. This role will ultimately be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of a comprehensive HR service to the site, including the provision of up-to-date advice, guidance and support, taking into account HR best practice and legislation.


Key Accountability's



  • Supporting the development of a positive culture and working environment based on strength of purpose and organisational value

  • Role modelling the right behaviours and ways of working to achieve culture development

  • supporting the development of employee behaviours appropriate to site

  • Developing our people to ensure they have the knowledge, skills, experience and capabilities to fulfil both their own and the client's needs and ambitions

  • Supporting the site PDR process, providing guidance and training as necessary

  • Working with line managers to create appropriate development plans

  • Partnering and coaching line managers on a range of employee relations issues, which includes discipline, grievance and performance management issues

  • Training delivery as appropriate

  • Build trust through strong two-way communication and targeted engagement interventions to improve relations across the site

  • Reviewing key HR systems and process to improve customer experience of the HR function

  • Supporting and influencing colleagues to ensure we recruit the right people, with the right skills, values, behaviours and capabilities to deliver their goals

  • Being a significant and highly active contributor across broader company initiatives

  • Policies & procedures review, ensuring adherence with legislation and HR best practice and supporting the development, integration and implementation on site


Qualities, skills & experience required



  • Previous experience of delivering in an HR Manager capacity

  • Experience of having worked successfully in a similar level of role in a fast paced, commercially focused, Unionised environment

  • A deep understanding of HR principles and best practice in the areas of Employee Relations, Performance Management, Organisational Development, Recruitment and Learning & Development

  • Proven track record of building effective relationships

  • Solid employment law knowledge and proven experience of applying updated legislation to a variety of HR situations

  • Demonstrable evidence of their ability to coach and influence senior colleagues

  • Experience of managing redundancy situations

  • High level of commercial and financial awareness

  • Ability to apply clearly developed rationale and logic to demanding situations

  • Open minded, courageous and disciplined in their approach to change

  • Clear, respectful and engaging when they're making change happen

  • Empowering of others - encouraging them to achieve their potential

  • Confident, decisive, resilient and thrives under pressure with effective communication and organisational skills

  • High levels of numeracy, literacy and computer skills

  • Working towards CIPD qualification
