HR Officer


We are currently looking for a HR Officer to join the brilliant HR team at Devon & Cornwall Police. This position is full time at 37 hours a week and is based out of the Police HQ in Middlemoor in Exeter with the opportunity to also work from home. The contract is currently until the end of December 2022.


Your duties will include, but are not limited to:



  • Providing professional advice in accordance with the People Directorate Operating Model in relation to the full range of HR Operations activities

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with line managers

  • Managing an appropriate caseload of people management cases, seeking to produce creative solutions to issues in accordance with Business Area requirements

  • Investigating Police staff disciplinary allegations, preparing disciplinary investigation reports and acting as presenting officer at disciplinary hearings

  • Undertaking proactive attendance management monitoring activities

  • Contributing to policy formation


Requirements:



  • Relevant practical experience within a HR generalist role

  • Sound knowledge and experience of applying employment law

  • Good interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Effective decision making and problem solving skills

  • CIPD qualified or equivalent - not essential
