We are recruiting for an Import/Export Coordinator to work for a reputable company based in Sutton Coldfield. Our client is looking for a new member to join their team to ensure that export/import orders are handled in an accurate and timely manner and to ensure that goods are shipped to the satisfaction of the customer in the most cost-effective manner.


Role and responsibilities:



  • Checking outbound shipments for readiness and accuracy, assisting to resolve any discrepancies that may arise.

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with freight suppliers, negotiating effectively with them to ensure competitive rates and consistently high levels of performance.

  • Booking shipments with freight forwarders and making necessary arrangements to have cargo delivered to required point.

  • Communicating with customers regarding shipment status prior to and whilst goods are in transit and to resolve any problems that may develop.

  • Ensuring declarations are completed accurately within the required time frames, escalating any issues to the line manager.

  • Providing excellent customer service and keeping customers advised on declaration completion and confirming VAT and duty payments to customers when required.

  • Identifying and reacting to any customs issues that might cause delay to a shipment

  • Checking all VAT and duty invoices are generated in the freight management system and emailed to customers.

  • Responding effectively to customer queries/complaints and resolve them in a timely manner to maintain the positive image of the company


The ideal candidate:



  • A self-starter with high levels of motivation to do a great job.

  • A good understanding of import/export customs

  • Good working knowledge of import VAT and duty, quotas

  • Be used to customs invoicing and query resolution

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Good ICT skills
