Import/Export Customs Clearance Specialist




Management of entire logistics chain including relevant import-export documents.


� Complete working knowledge of the entire logistics import/export process

� Complete and up to date knowledge of customs clearance procedures

� Working knowledge of PEACH and DEFRA Communication requirements

� Working knowledge of perishable cargo an advantage

� Up to date and informed of developments within customs clearance regulations

� 5+ Years' experience in import/export logistics environment

� Experience working on Cargowise and/or Sequoia

� Experience with Destin8 and CNS

� Ability to prioritise with a constantly changing workload

� Excellent attention to detail

� Able to work autonomously and as part of a team

Main Responsibilities:

� Coordination of the import and export logistics and customs clearance process

� Managing customs entries from EU and the rest of the world, implementing procedures for inbound/outbound trucks (cargo)

  • Liaising with the company's in-house department/s regarding incoming shipments in order to apply for customs entry in good time.

  • Ensure that border crossing shipments comply with the rules and regulations of UK authorities.

  • Ensures Trade Agreement compliance

  • Lead the business through the changes that Brexit will bring

  • Working with Government's CHIEF customs system to ensure entries are added correctly

  • Training new/existing employees on Customs Entry processes.

� Provide knowledge of customs clearance for specific variations on company's imports from EU and the rest of the world.

� Ensuring Commodity/HS Codes set up on operating system are correct for new and existing products.

� Interact with customs authorities to address any issues/questions arising during the clearing

� Attend any customs inspections or present documents to customs authorities when such are requested

� Act as the liaison between the customs authorities (or other government agencies and customers)

� Ensure timely customs clearance of cargo to customer for Import

� Verify documents received for Import customs purposes are compliant and correct

� Assistance and liaison during customs audits and reviews

This role is normally office based, however due to ongoing Covid19 restrictions you would be working from home and all Company equipment will be provided.

The working hours are Monday- Friday 8am - 4pm
