Initial Training Supervisor

We currently have an exciting opportunity available for an Initial Training Supervisor to join Devon & Cornwall and Dorset Police. This position is based out of the Ferndown Police Station until December 2023. You will be designing and delivering training and development interventions in order to ensure that the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours of Police Officers, staff and other members of the Force meet the requirements of the Force and priorities.

You duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating and preparing annual training schedules

  • Designing, developing and delivering training and development across a variety of packages

  • Identifying individual needs of students as well as occupational and organisational training needs

  • Representing the Poole department and internal and external meetings

  • Coaching and mentoring of students as required

  • Keeping abreast of local / national developments in best practice , legislation and developing standards


  • A recognised training / teaching qualification or extensive relevant experience together with a commitment and potential to achieve such a qualification

  • The ability to identify training and development needs and design bespoke interventions

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Sound organisational and planning skills

  • Methodical problem solving approach

  • Must be trained to Basic Life Support Standard and be the holder of a current First Aid at work certificate
