Our client within public sector is looking for an Interim Payroll Manager based in Kingston and Sutton. The role holder is required to work 4 days per week, 3 months contract and offers £500/day umbrella rate/ inside IR35.


The Interim Payroll Manager will be supporting the shared services during a period of HR re-structuring phase:



  • Provide strategic leadership to the Business Operations (ITrent), Teachers Pension, Auto-Enrolment and Payroll teams, ensuring that the service operates effectively and provides the highest quality of service.

  • Monitor contract performance to ensure that maximum value for money is achieved and ensure governance arrangements are in place.

  • Lead on payroll management for the HR Shared Service, including process management, supplier relationship management, audit and governance

  • Part of the HR Operations management team, working closely with the HR Operation Managers and HR Advisers

  • Manage the day to day function of the payroll partnership - responding to queries on pension schemes, taxable benefits and offering advice & guidance to the payroll & system team.

  • Ensure all monthly payroll disbursements and annual returns including LEA and Teachers Pensions and Annual Service returns meet statutory deadlines.


The role holder will manage key ongoing projects including;



  • Roll out of iTrent Electric Theme to 3 London Councils

  • Teacher Pay Awards

  • Setting up Election payrolls

  • New cost centre and GL files for Sutton & Kingston (roll out of new finance system)

  • Automation of sickness across the partnership

  • Review of elements - Holiday pay and bulk payments

  • CIPP qualification is desirable
