A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an IT Programme Manager to work within a UK-based renewable energy company. This exciting opportunity is open to an individual that is looking for a contract opportunity for an initial 3 months with high probability of extension.



THE ROLE



Responsible for the delivery of IT programmes and projects to the agreed time, cost and quality standards, mentoring and directing IT Project Managers ensuring standards and best practices are adhered to. Acting as an account manager to one or a number of business areas, they will work with business sponsors and stakeholders to define and shape the IT projects as part of the wider IT project portfolio. They will support IT Project Managers in the delivery of their projects while delivering the more complex projects themselves. They will manage all aspects of the project delivery, from the initial scoping through to handing over to the service team, through the effective management of assigned resources (both internal and external), approved suppliers and allocated budgets (with a potential individual project budget of up to £5m).



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Deliver complex IT projects within agreed timescales, within approved budgets and to an agreed level of quality

  • Work with stakeholders at all levels

  • Line management of up to 4 IT Project Managers

  • Matrix management of assigned project IT resources, usually between 3 and 10 individuals per project

  • Management of project budgets up to £5m

  • Management of deliverables from 3rd party suppliers

  • Clear communication of progress and obstacles for delivery either written or verbally

  • Facilitate Project Boards

  • Plans, directs, co-ordinates activities to manage and implement interrelated projects from contract/proposal initiation to final operational stage

  • Plans, schedules, monitors and reports on activities related to the portfolio

  • Ensures that the projects are managed to realise business benefits

  • Takes full responsibility for the definition, documentation and successful completion of complex projects (typically with significant business, political or high-profile impact, and high-risk dependencies), ensuring that realistic project, quality, change control and risk management processes are maintained

  • Monitors and controls resources, revenue and capital costs against the project budget and manages expectations of all project stakeholders

  • Supports effective business change by building relationships with and between IT Management Team and business leads

  • Uses quality standards to review past performance and plan future activities


KEY REQUIREMENTS



  • Delivery of challenging business system change projects in complex and demanding environments

  • Managing project challenges and issues, assessing impacts to all aspects of the project thoroughly and proactively seeking resolutions

  • Managing and developing IT Project Managers

  • Building of project proposals, working with stakeholders to build a business case

  • Managing supplier project engagements, from tender through to delivery and handing over to ongoing support

  • Effective communicator, confident engaging with all levels of business and across all methods of communication

  • Confident reporting to senior business leaders through project and portfolio boards

  • Managing mixed teams of permanent and contract resources

  • Broad understanding of all aspects of IT solution delivery

  • Formal Project Management qualification or certification (PMI, Prince II, etc.)

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

  • Demonstration of continued professional development

  • Takes responsibility for all aspects of project delivery

  • Demonstrates a strong delivery focus

  • Pragmatic and flexible in ways of working

  • Positive team player, capable of exploiting the strengths of individual team members

  • Skilled at using Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office suite

  • Strong relationships with IT and business stakeholders

  • Proven track record of successful project delivery aligned to the priorities of the business area

  • Giving appropriate support to direct reports, which leads to them successfully delivering their projects


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Some out of core office hours work to support project implementations may be required

  • Limited travel may be required
