JOB TITLE: IT Project Support Officer
LOCATION: London, Kingston
DURATION: 3 months (plus extensions)
PAY RATE: £12.80 PAYE / £15.82 Umbrella per hour


Project Support and Management
 Provide project administration support to the Programme Manager and Project Managers
 Assist with developing and maintaining up-to-date project documentation including business cases, project initiation documents, project plans, specifications and timetables; highlight reports; risk assessments; issues lists; etc
 Provide detailed guidance on project management processes, procedures, tools and techniques
 Provide advice and guidance on individual project proposals and plans
 Provide management of small ICT projects, sub-projects, system changes, and upgrades to applications
 Provide development and implementation of test plans and user surveys, draft user guidance notes, and coordinate the implementation of training plans prior to Project Go Live dates
 Administer project and programme change control; review processes and recommend changes
 Assist with the development, preparation and publishing of policies, procedures and guidance for accessing and using the systems
 Set up and control the Configuration Management System for the project or programme
 Assist with the transition from Project to Post-Project / Business as Usual


 Plans and prioritises own work to meet deadlines

 Works with manager to agree performance objectives
 Works within the Council's ITIL Framework
 Contributes ideas to support the development of team service plan

 To develop, update and act on own personal development plan, and be ready to share learning with others
 To work in accordance with Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, relevant policies and legislation
 Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post, as may be required from time to time.
 The post may involve carrying out work outside of usual office hours


 Experience of providing support to all stages of ICT-related projects
 Experience of the methods and techniques used for reporting progress and financial conformance against an agreed plan
 Experience of coordinating user-testing and maintaining issues logs and project documentation through to project closure
 Experience of gathering user and business requirements, and the development of specifications and business cases
 Familiar with the use of automated tools to assist in the project management process, by automating mechanical tasks such as scheduling, resource balancing, and time recording
 An understanding of the concepts of common project management methodologies such as PRINCE2, Waterfall and Agile, etc
 Excellent communications skills, in particular, the ability to clearly

convey complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience
 An understanding of ITIL practices

 Experience of managing small to medium-scale IT-related projects using common project management methodologies such as PRINCE2, Waterfall and Agile
 Familiarity with using Configuration Management for the precise control over IT assets
 Familiarity with Business Analysis techniques
