Laboratory Assistant

Rate: £12.00

Location: Reading

Contract: 12 Months

Adecco have an exciting new opportunity to work as in-house Lab Technician to provide day to day testing activities with an innovative consumer goods & pharmaceutical organisation situated in Reading. The ideal individual would have experience in routine analytical lab testing and good manufacturing and laboratory practice (e.g. quality control)

Key Skill/Individual

  • Analytical experience, preferably including broader industry experience

  • Recent experience in routine analytical testing and good manufacturing and laboratory practice (e.g. quality control)

  • Good knowledge of analytical techniques used for product development and quality controls

  • Strong Good Science aptitude and good practices focus

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a passion for accuracy and attention to detail.

  • A proactive thinker who can anticipate future issues and propose pragmatic solutions.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills - must be able to effectively interact with a team environment, of different nationalities and at different levels within the company

  • Strong Analytical thinking and problem solving

  • Good Computer literacy


To provide the delivery of a quality analytical in-house testing and lab service to EMEA business. More specifically, routine analytical testing.

  • Comply with principles of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)

  • Provide high quality standardised methodology execution and implementation of change control requests in accordance to business and/or external authority requirements such as:-

    • Equipment calibrations

    • Adherence to global/site methods and site SOPs

    • Consumable maintenance and rotation (First in First Out)

  • Ensure timely delivery of routine testing data and reports for testing to include:
    o Appearance testing
    o Titrations
    o HPLC, GC, GCMS, IC
    o Fluoride analysis by ISE
    o Solution preparation using approved reference standards
    o Cross BU sample submission logging into Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN)

  • Provide communication to the Laboratory Supervisor and support timely investigation of all compliance findings, retests, and test deviation investigations and actions

  • Scheduling and tracking for all agreed activities.

  • Training of any laboratory analytical chemists in the agreed and established methods.

  • First contact for technical troubleshooting (instruments and/ or methods)
