This position is in the BioServices Laboratory and Biorepository business unit. The Laboratory technician will be responsible for receiving and processing laboratory samples. The main process will be blood fractionation, plasma separation using centrifuges and liquid handling robotic machines and automated and manual aliquoting of biological samples. You will be working on a 4 days on - 4 days off rolling shift pattern with 12 hour working days.


Shifts available are;


- 8am - 8pm or 9.30am - 9:30pm


- Saturday shifts are 8am - 6pm



- £19,500 - £28,000 Pro Rata


Responsibilities:



  • You will be receiving and handling hundreds of biological, mostly blood samples for clinical trials and performing laboratory procedures including disposal of laboratory waste under supervision.

  • Processing of biological samples including, but not limited to, blood sample fractionation, buffy coat preparation, peripheral blood lymphocyte isolation, DNA / RNA extraction, quantification and qualification of DNA.

  • Centrifugation of biological samples, manual and automated sample aliquoting.

  • Receipt of samples into the laboratory using Laboratory Informatics Systems (LIMS), such as the Nautilus, excel spreadsheets, word, and other software systems

  • Carrying out stock checks, stock movements & updating inventory management systems.

  • Any other tasks as requested by the Lab Manager/Supervisor.
