Adecco is working with our global client based close to Durham who are looking for a Lead Electronics Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.


Our client offers an extremely generous salary which is dependent on experience, this role offers ambitions and motivating challenges. This is a regular working pattern of Monday to Friday with flexible working as they require 1 day onsite working and 4 days remote. In this exciting role you will be working with a Global Engineering team, supporting new product development across multi-brand tool categories. In this exciting role you will be an influential team member working within a multi-functional team supporting Electrical and Electronic systems development.

You will have many responsibilities, some will include:




    • Lead Electronics Engineer required for advanced product development of household appliance electronics systems, including battery management, charging systems, motor controls and robotics. This includes the design, testing, and development of board-level electronic assemblies.





    • Lead Product Development Team in confirming Marketing Critical to Customers and Critical to Quality attributes to allow generation of the product specification, evaluating and resolving safety and quality issues, competitive product analysis and testing requirements from a legal point of view





    • Advanced program management on multiple projects key to category growth.





    • Knowledge in most of the following: switch-mode power supply design, electric motor controls, lithium-ion battery management, embedded systems, small AC / DC and brush-less motors.





    • The role is expected to develop ideas from concept through a structured product development process into mass production.





    • The role requires close co-ordination with software development engineers, technicians, testing department, electronic component suppliers and Asian contract manufacturers.





    • The structured product development process also requires continuous communication with a global team reporting project status (cost, schedule, risk, etc..) and technical information





    • Work closely with other team members to ensure customer requirements are achieved and projects are delivered on time, cost and quality.





To be considered for this role, you must have the following:




    • Minimum HNC / Degree qualified or equivalent.





    • Minimum 5 year's design experience within a relevant industry. A broad range of experience but ideally with strong all-round electronic design skills with software/firmware knowledge.





    • Desired: Strong knowledge of Analogue and Digital Design including microprocessors/micro controllers, programmable logic, embedded firmware/software, SMPS design, PCB design and design for EMC, Schematic capture, PCB and simulation using Altium Designer or similar.





    • Design for high volume manufacturing





    • Generating initial costed BOM's and define complexity of program and resource req'd





    • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; computer literate





    • Advanced program management on multiple projects key to category growth.





    • Strong people management skills with proven track record of leading multifunctional team





    • Self-motivation with a high degree of creativity and initiative





    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials as they relate to design and manufacturing





    • Occasional travel (up to 10%) might be required, once restrictions are lifted
