Repair and maintenance of the Police and Crime Commissioner's Assets, building fabric and estate in an efficient, effective and safe manner in accordance with standard operating procedures and associated legislation.




  1. Assist the Building Services Engineer in establishing and maintaining safe working systems and practices to ensure that the Force complies with Health and Safety guidance and legislation.

  2. Diagnose, maintain and service electrical and mechanical plant and equipment as per Construction Operating Manuals and site drawings and as directed by Line Manager

  3. Diagnose, maintain and service building fabric, fittings and site services as per Construction Operating Manuals and site drawings and as directed by Line Manager.

  4. Effectively and safely manage reactive breakdowns and system outages and ensure a return to service in a timely and efficient manner minimising the operational impact.

  5. Interpret and complete work instructions and equipment maintenance records, including the requisition of equipment, spare parts and other materials ensuring that appropriate procedures are adhered to.

  6. Maintain and repair a variety of mechanical and electrical systems to a defined schedule or procedure whilst ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

  7. Carry out regular inspections of building and plant, monitoring and testing in accordance with legislation and Estates procedures as directed by Line Manager, including fire alarm testing and test relating to the control of legionella. Report any concerns to Line Manager.

  8. Assist or provide access to Estates and Facilities related visitors and contractors as may be necessary ensuring that external visitors are escorted whilst on site.




  1. Carry out manual tasks such as moving and arranging furniture and lockers within Cheshire Constabulary buildings, to deliver a high level of customer service in accordance with agreed standards and targets.




  1. Ensure that all waste types are collected / disposed of in ways which are compliant with Force policies, procedures and legislation.




  1. Carry out Facilities Management tasks as directed by Line Manager and provide resilience, flexibility and site cover as required to ensure Facilities Management services are maintained.




  1. Ensure requests received through the Service Management Tool are actioned, updated and closed in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements.



On call on a rota basis




  1. Must be able to travel anywhere in the County.

Experience and Qualifications



QUALIFICATIONS:

Time served craftsman, Educated to Level 3 of the National Qualifications Framework in an appropriate discipline such as Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical engineering, or a related building trade.



Must hold a full clean UK driving licence



SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
IT literate.



EXPERIENCE:

Significant post qualification experience gained within a Building & Civil maintenance, Building Mechanical services / maintenance or Building Electrical services / maintenance environment.

Significant experience of diagnosing faults or repairs and replacing components where necessary.
