Marketing & Communications Officer
£30-35k Salary + bonus
Based - Chiswick, West London W4
Mon - Fri 9am - 5.30pm

The Marketing & Communications will report into the MD and will be responsible for promoting the the business in the media and online.The successful applicant will also be responsible for the annual marketing & communications plan, digital media activity, media relationships, events, content & collateral

Duties / Tasks:

  • Annual marketing and communications plan

1. Working with General Manager to prepare and agree the annual plan and associated budget

2. Co-ordinating delivery of the annual plan through own activity, colleagues and agencies

3. Managing the marketing and communications budget

4. Supporting the business development team with sales to new customers

5. Supporting the compliance team with customer communications

6. Support the operations team with recycling collection initiatives

7. Support the CGM and other staff with responses to consultations, tenders, etc

  • Digital media activity

8. Managing and keeping the UK website up-to-date

9. Monitoring and enhancing search engine performance of the website

10. Actively promoting the UK business on social media (LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook)

  • Media relationships, opportunities and content

11. Building good relationships with and keeping an up-to-date database of media contacts

12. Fielding media queries and liaising with CGM or other staff as necessary

13. Promoting news or events (online or by press release)

14. Using good media and PR skills to address reputational issues such as negative media

announcements, and to flag up and advise on any potentially negative issues

15. Drafting and issuing press releases when required

16. Monitoring media for industry related information which is important for the business to know

  • Events and activities

17. Developing and co-ordinating an annual programme webinar of webinars

18. Secure speaking and/or relevant sponsorship opportunities at key industry events

19. Organise seminars, round table discussions and similar events

20. Supporting staff as required to develop, support and assess public facing initiatives to

encourage collection and re-use/recycling of waste electricals / batteries / packaging

Role Profile

  • Relevant undergraduate degree as a minimum

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in marketing and communications

  • Good communications(with excellent written and spoken communication skills)

  • Social and online media savvy

  • Organised, methodical and self-motivated

  • Results oriented, ability to propose simple and pragmatic solutions
