The role:

  • Challenge existing practices and identify best practice

  • Support the businesses in assessing Op-Ex maturity, from analysing results from audits and KPI data to identify trends and options to further improve performance

  • Drive improvements to business processes to help improve efficiency, product quality and customer service

  • Identify viable belt projects during site interaction or assessments

  • Coach, mentor and develop full-time site Op-Ex resources in the business

  • Facilitate problem-solving sessions such as Kaizen or Workouts to lead teams to address issues that may not require an expanded DMAIC approach

  • Lead site/functional teams on site-specific or multi-site projects

  • Communicate frequently with Operations Director UK and the Divisional Operations Director on-site approval progress towards LSS maturity and results, including financial

  • Work closely with teams at all levels, including senior leaders to build relationships and influence to create a cultural shift/mindset of challenging the way we work

  • Facilitate training sessions to educate managers and the business using a LEAN philosophy

  • Be able to influence the business across a matrix environment

  • Act as a coach to positively influence key stakeholders on the change management process and be able to encourage senior leaders to think differently and be empathetic to the impact some changes could have on people, teams the business

  • Act as a role model and be a change agent to build and support senior leaders and teams

  • Any other ad hoc duties as may be required from time to time

Job-Related Experience/Skills

  • Previous experience of applying Lean and/or Six Sigma techniques within the manufacturing industry

  • Working knowledge of recognised Improvement frameworks and agile methodologies such as LEAN, Six Sigma, Kanban, Scrum

  • Experience of working in a multi-site environment

  • Project Management - PRINCE2

  • Ability to facilitate workshops and provide Yellow/Green belt training


  • A relevant university degree

  • Previous frozen food/ processing background

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Able to build and maintain effective relationships

  • Strong decision-making skills

  • Able to manage multiple and detail-oriented tasks while working autonomously to tight deadlines in pressurised situations

  • Self-motivated

  • Demonstrate a passion for safety, customer service and operational excellence
