This is an exciting opportunity to join a Financial Assessments Service Team as a Payroll Accounts Officer based in Tower Hamlets

Start date: ASAP
Hours: 35 hours Mon to Fri (09:00:AM - 05:00:PM)
Salary: £19.54 PAYE / £24.83 Umbrella
TEMP 3 Months

Assist in the provision of a responsive, professional and customer-focused payroll service providing high quality advice and guidance on a range of payroll and pensions related matters including relevant legislation, regulations and national and local conditions of service that meet the needs of customers catering for all relevant and varied terms and conditions of employment.

Ensure monthly statutory payments to Teachers Pensions Agency, the London Pensions Authority, Social Housing Pension Scheme and HMRC and the completion of TR17a Annual Teachers Pensions Return are made accurately and in a timely way within service standards with all entries on the payroll system being promptly reflected in the accounting system ensuring compliance with statutory payments deadlines and internal and external financial control systems fully meeting statutory financial regulations and audit requirements.

Interpret and advise on payroll related matters.
Assist in organising and co-ordinating the day-to-day work priorities of the team often against conflicting deadlines, ensuring the effective and efficient deployment of resources to meet service standards/targets and performance indicators.
Liaise with schools and other payroll providers to ensure the accurate processing of payment and provide advice and guidance on payment of arrears of pensions and/or the completion of the TR17a Teachers Pensions Annual Return.

Monitor and control the payroll database ensuring that its integrity is upheld maintaining and managing comprehensive streamlined and cost effective checking procedures in accordance with best practice to ensure accurate output from the payroll system.

Attend internal and external meetings and Courts as and when required

Assist the Payroll Team Leaders in the effective training and development of team members providing cover as requested, within the team and other teams within the service. Movement between sections may take place in accordance with professional development and business needs.
