We're currently supporting a leading specialist within their field in their search for a Payroll Analyst, a brand-new hybrid role, which will focus on embedding the best Payroll process and analysing key data to help shape the future of the business. Reporting to the Head of Finance, as Payroll Analyst you will ensure that all employees are deployed appropriately, receive on-time pay and understand their salaries thoroughly. You'll conduct audits and verify all timekeeping records of employees' hours worked, as well as any deductions or withholdings to comply with statutory requirements.

Main Responsibility


You will work across all functions of the business and will provide data and insights from a staff perspective (including costings, working time compliance, utilisation etc) and ensure that hours worked are appropriately allocated to each service. In addition, you will be responsible for analysing timesheet data to ensure workforce optimisation.


You will be accountable for:



  • Analysing timesheet data and liaising with the operations team to ensure workforce optimisation, adherence to statutory requirements, and improvement of the employee experience

  • Working with managers to ensure timesheets are accurate and coaching them around any identified issues to ensure these are not repeated and the process continually improves

  • Ensure that all our employees receive on-time accurate pay

  • Maintaining relationships with employees and line managers to ensure payroll accuracy

  • Liaise with Management Information & Systems, and key stakeholders, to create bespoke reports in a timely manner to inform decision making and perform timesheet software review, spreadsheet optimisation and continuous process improvement

  • Analyse and report data for operational, financial and people management requirements on a weekly/monthly basis

  • Responding to employee payroll related queries and login difficulties and supporting a culture of self-serve to resolve issues through the management hierarchy where possible

  • Liaising with the People Team to process starters, leavers, absences and changes to a high degree of accuracy

  • Leavers details - ensuring calculations conducted via the HR system are accurate, including last day of employment, unused or overtaken holidays, etc and applying deductions to final payroll where appropriate


The Ideal Candidate


Will have previous experience as a Payroll Analyst or similar role and have effective skills, knowledge and proven experience in:



  • Ability to analyse and report payroll data

  • Timesheet review and understanding the allocation of hours

  • 2 years end to end payroll administration experience

  • Up to date payroll and HMRC rules and regulations and working knowledge of the practical application of the working time regulations

  • Ability to work with numbers and data. Excel spreadsheets including formulas and data manipulation to produce insights.

  • Ability to review and perform continuous process improvements and engage and influence stakeholders to adopt
