Payroll Specialist


Salary - up to £35,000 (dependent on experience)


Reporting to the Head of HR, you will have full responsibility for providing a professional, accurate payroll service for both weekly & monthly routines utilising the T&A system . This role provides an opportunity for you to improve the current processes and ensure payroll software is being used to its full capacity. Ensuring the company is fully compliant at all times with legislation and any changes or updates being communicated and implemented within the business. This is a 'hands' on role where you will be actively involved in processing the payroll with the team.

Key Responsibilities:

- Produce weekly and monthly payrolls

- Day to day management and development of the team

- Distribute workload ensuring all aspects are completed according to strict deadlines

- Manage the T&A system (e.g. to support overtime, absence data)

- Extracting reports from XRL and T&A System

- Administer starters, leavers and contractual changes

- Managing the payroll inbox and ensure all queries are resolved quickly and professionally

- Submit all HMRC requirements ie RTI and deal with all queries efficiently

- Administer pension schemes

- Maintain and update payroll records

- Maintenance and continual improvement of payroll systems and processes.

- Ensure full compliance at all times

- Provide full cover during periods of holiday and absence

- Undertake ad-hoc project

- Strong administer.


Minimum of 5 years payroll experience

Expert level in Microsoft Excel (creating formulas and v-look ups)

Experience with Pegasus systems (Desirable)

Solid understanding of HR/Payroll cycles

Strong organisation skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues.

Strong working knowledge of email, word, and XRL

General understanding of HR processes in order to support the HR team. (Desirable)
