An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Placement & Quality Manager to join a public sector organisation based in Essex. The role will report into the Joint Commissioning Unit.


The successful applicant will have a background within social services or similar setting, with management of an operational team within purchasing or placements. Knowledge of child protection procedures and legal framework is essential, alongside a knowledge of 'what work's in residential and fostering placements.



Key duties will include:



  • To manage a team of placement officers and ensure that an effective and efficient service is provided to meet the needs of service users through the provision of placements from a range of providers

  • To ensure that all statutory and departmental targets are met to a high standard in the sourcing of monitoring of placements

  • To undertake a commissioning role in the developing specific arrangements with a range of providers so as to improve service delivery and delivery prudence

  • To ensure that placements are of sufficient quality, whether OFSTED regulated or unregulated using intelligence from either Placements or Quality Outcomes Teams

  • To contribute to strategic working and forward planning to ensure a high quality service is delivered to service users

  • Ability to gather, manipulate and analyse data effectively to produce monthly reporting, to provide evidence for and prepare for BUMP meetings

  • Responsible for engaging with the market and managing stakeholders

  • Develop and design commissioning methods to get optimum value for money

  • Monitor and improve team improvement using business unit performance data

  • To provide updates and information as required to identify trends, anomalies to inform strategic plans
