My client, an urban developer and property company, who provide planning and other statutory work. They are looking to recruit a graduate into their their planning division offering full training.


Their Planning & Building Control Team has undergone significant transformational change, with the intention of delivering a commercially astute, pragmatic and professional planning super service.


JOB DESCRIPTION


Job Title: Planning and Building Control Support Officer - Full Training Provided


Indicative Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 + benefits and 30 days annual leave entitlement


Responsible to: Deputy Chief Planning Director


Hours: 35 hours per week (currenlty working from home, but this may change)

Overall Purpose of Job:


To support consistently high quality, cost effective and customer focused Planning and Building Control support services. The role will also ensure that the Planning and Building Control administrative functions are carried out to a high level of accuracy and to required standards



Key Tasks and Accountabilities following training




  • To contribute towards the implementation of a working culture that is result-orientated, customer-focused and an ethos of 'right first time' service delivery.

  • To provide a proactive, knowledgeable Planning and Building Control business support service to external and internal customers and stakeholders, meeting evolving delivery priorities, issues and challenges to agreed standards defined in the service offer.

  • Undertake a full range of operational business and administrative tasks in order to support the work of the Planning and Building Control service. Activities include:

    • Accurate receipting, recording, and validating Planning and Building Control applications

    • Planning and Building Control record management and maintenance

    • Administration of Planning Appeals

    • Administration of the Planning and Building Control services email inbox.

    • Overseeing receipt of payments and refunds to/from customers





PERSON SPECIFICATION


Essential experience



  • Educated to degree level

  • IT literate with experience of using Word, PowerPoint and other software packages to record and manage data.

  • A proven record or experience of communicating in person, by telephone and in writing in a calm, courteous and confident professional manner.



Essential skills



  • Scrupulous attention to detail, particularly with regard to technical aspects of operational processes and practices, accuracy of records and reports, efficiency and accuracy around schedule and diary management

  • At ease in the presence of company directors, senior client representatives and able to

  • Able to work under pressure, organise and prioritise own work and that of others, ensuring agreed programmes and project requirements are met and customer demands accommodated

  • Strong influencing and persuasion skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong reporting writing and communications skills, abilities to flex communication style and approach to meet the needs of a diverse range of stakeholder groups

  • Ability to prioritise under pressure
