Reporting directly to the Operations Engineer, you will be required to and responsible for:

� To manage and be responsible for control of the distribution of superheated steam at London Road Heat Station, with due regard to its, high operating pressure (Above 23Bar) and high temperature (Above 370�C).

� To manage and be responsible for the operation / control of the distribution of electrical power up to and including 33,000 volts to the London Road Heat Station, FCC Incineration Plant, the Grid and the Private Wire customers.

� To manage, monitor and control the District Heating system for Nottingham City ensuring the heat requirements of the scheme are met, using gas boilers if required with due regard to the environmental and financial implications to ensure contractual obligations are satisfied.

� To be responsible for the safe operation and control of the Steam Turbine Alternator. Carry out high voltage switching. Synchronise the alternator / station to the grid.

� First point of contact out of hours, managing the call out of support staff in the event of incidents/emergencies with the District Heating Network or Heat Station on a 24/7 basis.

� Build and maintain a culture of team work where team members can and want to contribute to their full potential.

� Participate in continued professional development to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to the role and / or required for advancement.

� Assist in the training of subordinates, peers and new employees.

� Provide leadership and direction to the Shift Team, including managing individual and team performance.

� Manage the Plant Operation Technicians and their workload to ensure that there is 24/7 coverage at the Heat Station, plus their duties and responsibilities are carried out fully and in compliance with operating permits and local procedures.

� Supervise the production of treated water to replace losses on the Heat Station, District Heating Network and FCC Incinerator. Manage water analysis contractors whilst on site.

� Manage, improve, operate and control the Permit to Work System ensuring all operations impacting the Heat Station are delivered safely and in compliance with established procedures. Ensure that the isolations are carried out as specified on the Permit to Work, locks are fitted as required and all involved personnel are briefed and signed onto the Permit before any work is carried out.

� To be responsible for the identification and ordering of parts, in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager.

� Participate in outage planning, scheduling and co-ordination.

� To be responsible for the installation and commissioning of new equipment in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager.

� To be responsible for the completion of shift logs, event logs and data collection for billing and auditing purposes.

� To support the management team in the development of Health & Safety management policies, business continuity plans and risk registers.

� Take responsibility as Duty Manager when the General Manager, Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager or Network Manager are unavailable (includes out of standard hours).

� To provide continuous operational cover 24/7/365 with flexibility to change working pattern when necessary to meet operational and business needs.

� Manage and ensure all work/operational changes to the water, steam, district heating and electrical systems are controlled 24/7.

� Modernise, maintain, write, review and develop all operational records, documents, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments. Includes electronic and physical information relevant to Operations.

� To review data gathering processes and implement improvements in processing and reporting packages relating to monitoring the scheme's heat and power infrastructure network.

� To contribute to the development of the District Heating Asset Management Plan and to be responsible for the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the plan with respect to the London Road Heat Station.

� To prepare and present operational, management and technical reports plus briefings, including identification of deficiencies, fault analysis and the reliability of plant for the management team.

� Carry out routine plant inspections and adjustments / operations as required and ensure an accurate log of events is maintained.

� Ensure all defects are accurately reported via the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

� Ensure all pertinent operational information is clearly communicated to the oncoming shift team via the shift handover.

� Contribute to the development, implementation and administration of the Planned Preventative Maintenance programme (PPM).

� Be responsible for full contractor inductions.

� Be responsible for site security.

� Be responsible for providing Site First Aid and defibrillation cover.

� When "Duty Manager" manage and control contractors and work on Site.

� Demonstrate strong people management skills in supporting the Plant Operations Manager in the development, attendance management and performance management of front line colleagues in line with current legislation, the city's competency framework, policies and procedures.

� Undertake the role of emergency controller, responsible for managing all site emergencies safely and in line with local procedures.
