Key Responsibilities

  • To support the Plant Operations Engineer ensuring all operations impacting the Heat Station are delivered safely and in compliance with established procedures

  • Operating start and stop functions of gas fired boilers and adjustment of firing rates as directed by the Plant Operations Engineer

  • Support the Plant Operations Engineer including active response to incidents and emergencies as required

  • Assist with the re-configuration of high-pressure steam pipework when required

  • Responsible for daily routine cleansing activities

  • To support in the proactive compilation of water treatment analysis on system feed waters and provide results to both Operations and Compliance Engineers

  • Supporting the Operations Engineer in undertaking routine PPM inspections on auxiliary equipment at the London Road site to minimise breakdown and lost production time

  • Complete both routine and reactive operations for all Water Treatment Plant, taking responsibility for delivery of chemicals for water treatment and ensuring safe storage and usage as directed by Plant Operations and Compliance Engineers

  • Routinely cleaning and painting of plant and machinery and all internal areas of the main building as directed by the operations Engineer

  • To complete shift and event logs and data collection in line with audit and safety requirements

  • Assist in the implementation of improvements to the Company's procedures and systems making recommendations as appropriate

  • Comply with the Council's Health, Safety & Environmental procedures and relevant legislation

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates will require previous experience in a similar role

  • City & Guilds or BOAS certification in boiler operations (or marine equivalent)

  • Knowledge of water treatment

  • Steam raising plant experience

This role is part of a 24-hr rotating shift cycle and requires flexibility in order to provide continuous service.
