North Wales Police are looking to recruit a part-time Front Counter Assistant to work at the Police Station Helpdesk at Caernarfon Police Station.


Station Front Desk Assistants are the first point of contact for the public attending a Police Station and are expected to respond to the public's requests, manage expectations and reassure them that we are here for them when needed most. You will be based primarily in Caernarfon but may also need to support sites in Bangor and Holyhead.


Post is temporary and will be reviewed December 2021.


What Does the Job Entail?


Helpdesk Officers undertake a variety of challenging roles including but not restricted to:



  • Recording incidents of crime and road accidents

  • Using various police IT systems to record information and access records

  • Releasing of seized vehicles after appropriate document check

  • Registration of individuals on bail and sex offenders

  • Signposting to services that are not delivered by the police

  • Providing a courteous and efficient service to the public



Successful applicants should be able to demonstrate:



  • Excellent communication and listening skills

  • A strong level of spoken Welsh

  • Strong IT skills, ideally with knowledge of police IT systems (e.g. NICHE, ICAD, PNC)

  • Have the capability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Be able to remain calm under pressure in a variety of situations.



You will be working a fixed shift pattern working 18 hours per week. Shifts will fall between 0800-2000 including working 1 weekend in 4.


Rate of pay is £15.30p/hr.
