Main Areas of Responsibility




  • To take shared responsibility for all categories of spend and to develop expertise into those areas assigned by the Head of Procurement, initially it is expected that these will include:

    • Review view of existing contracts, formal retender of contracts due to expire and scope of new opportunities

    • Energy supply - mobilise the transition to a CCS/DfE aggregation supply arrangement for all academies and monitor and manage this.

    • Water supply - mobilise the transition to a CCS framework supply arrangement for all academies and monitor and manage this

    • Estates support and maintenance contracts - review current arrangements across the Federation and determine what Federation-wide deals need to be in place and manage the whole tendering process to do this including initial onboarding. Management oversight of all current contracts such as waste, PPM, etc.

    • Catering - act as the initial management conduit between the academies and the outsourced caterer ensuring KPIs and service standards are met, and any deficiencies are promptly and effectively addressed. This will involve weekly service review meetings and escalating matters to the Head of Procurement.



  • Develop market knowledge of the categories assigned and apply this to create a deep understanding of customer requirements in area of responsibility. Identifying innovation opportunities for adding value and driving savings. Act as a source of market knowledge, insight and advice to customers, working with them to define optimal commercial strategies that deliver long-term value and efficiencies. Exploit commercial intelligence and insights to identify opportunities for the categories to execute against.

  • Customer Relationship Management - manage customer relationships to drive efficiencies through frameworks and specific initiatives identifying key stakeholders at departmental/organisational level, establishing communication plans

  • Lead on Supplier Relationship & Contract Management for the categories including the development of Supplier Action Plans to agree performance improvement goals, identification and delivery of savings initiatives and innovation opportunities. Interface with Trade Associations and other industry forums as appropriate

  • Provide informed and expert procurement advice and guidance which conforms with best practice Additional Duties

  • To undertake other appropriate activities to support the Head of Procurement and the team.
