Adecco Northumberland are supporting their client in a search for a Product Design Engineer to join their established team, this role has been introduced due to growth within their product range, client base and successes over the last 18 months.

We have worked with this client for 5 years, and have supported with multiple department hires across this period. The role is located in the heart of Blyth, within a market where a lot of investment and opportunity has been identified and supported for the future. Salary: Dependent on experience, we're open to graduates who are passionate and have a creative flare.

Our client is a market leader, currently offering over 500 products in over 15 countries.

The candidate:

  • Preferred candidates are likely to have degree level or substantial experience in product design or a closely related field and will need to demonstrate a variety of work following their projects through from conception to production.

  • You will need good sketching and rendering skills, and you must be well versed in 2D and 3D software, displaying a great understanding of 3D forms, aesthetics and graphical layouts. In addition to your CV, we would like to see a portfolio of work that truly expresses your skill in design.

Specific skills:

  1. Strong formal design ability including 2D and 3D product development. This candidate should possess conceptual visualisation skills that demonstrate a unique and varied approach to product development.

  2. Must be a collaborator and have clear communication with the design team and consultants.

  3. Strong digital skills with 3D Design tools including Solidworks, and the 2D programs Photoshop and Illustrator.

  4. The ability to manage project manage, creative innovative design solutions, control costings and meet deadlines.

  5. Able to take designs all the way from concept through to production.

  6. A good understanding of injection moulding and related processes and a solid basic understanding of other manufacturing methods and processes including fabrication, various finishing processes, die casting, fastening, etc.

  7. Experience and knowledge of 3D printing techniques and uses is highly desirable.

  8. A broad and active knowledge on new materials and manufacturing techniques.

  9. Experience of working with Solidworks is essential due to design work with mechanisms.
