Product Safety Toxicologist



Schedule: 7.5 hours/day, 5 days/week (start 0830 and finish 1630)


Contract: 6 month



Description:



The safety support for launch of Personal healthcare (PHC) initiatives is critical to supporting the business and requires an experienced consumer goods toxicologist. In this project, the toxicologist will investigate, review and collate supporting data sets for throat drops, nasal spray and food supplement active ingredients to build a supporting data pack to meet entry into new markets by end of 2021.



This is a 6-month position based at our new R&D facility in Reading UK.


The successful candidate will be expected to collate and review hazard data on active ingredients and botanical/natural substances, considering posology and age group/sub-population, to provide supporting safety assessments for ingredients, formulations and pack, including information for label communication (directions, warning statements etc.), across multiple categories. Part of this work will be development of a supporting database for throat drop products globally with information on actives and excipients, and to develop guidance for identification of appropriate pack materials for use in PHC medicinal and non-medicinal products.

* To understand which data and literature resources to use to prepare suitable hazard and risk assessments.


* To evaluate the robustness of the data and to develop ingredient assessments considering use in the context of the formulation. To prepare a clear summary of the safety assessment, data gaps and next steps, considering multiple routes of exposure.



[Qualifications, Experience & Attributes]


* PhD in Toxicology, Biochemistry, or a Life Science subject, with experience in FMCG support.


* Critical thinking & problem-solving skills. Being able to identify where a dataset has insufficient data to make a conclusion or requires expert judgement for a specific endpoint (as can access our internal Expert Teams for further input/guidance). Break down problems into problem statements and actionable learning plans and ability to deliver said learning plan. Turning data into learnings and influencing project direction.
