Job Title: Production Team Leader


Location: Hythe, Kent


Salary: £22,308 increasing (up to) £25,350 following probation


Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-1pm

Job Purpose:


The Production Department is responsible for the scheduling, efficient manufacture and on time delivery of products. The Supervisor is expected to oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operation of a number of work centres within their respective Production Areas.


Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:



  • To oversee and co-ordinate the day-to-day operation of several work areas run by your Team Leaders.

  • Ensure production targets are being met, if not work to put measures into place to rectify.

  • Demonstrate good organisational skills to effectively manage the workload for the your Team Leaders.

  • Ensure decisions are made to achieve the results for each production area within agreed timescales, policies, and procedures.

  • Participate in 8D investigations when required

  • Put measures in place to ensure the Team Leaders achieve set KPI's

  • Undertake annual appraisals with your staff

  • Participate in disciplinarys as required

  • Have regular 1 to 1's with your team to build working relationships with staff and identify any potential issues

  • Ensure activities across manufacturing are carried out to meet strict HSE standards and quality requirements.

  • Ensure all incidents are promptly reported to the Production Manager

  • Proactively develop a 'Right First Time' attitude culture and ensure root cause and preventative actions are identified and implemented

  • Ensure internal and external customer requirements are met on time and in full

  • Be an advocate and encourage Near Miss reporting and the submission of CI cards

  • Manage, set direction, and time objectives to the Team Leaders and review on a quarterly basis.

  • Develop and meet training plans to up skill and strengthen you team.

  • Ensure effective utilisation of equipment and manpower to meet quality standards and production lead times

  • Control and meet KPI's for production processes.

  • Ensure staff are developed and trained to carry out their duties within the Manufacturing Department.

  • Utilise 'buffer' data to drive manufacturing priorities and optimise throughput

  • Attend and lead daily tier meetings and ensure that clear next steps are captured and reviewed

  • Ensure that high standards of housekeeping and hygiene are embedded into the culture.

  • Carry out other duties as required by your manager


Experience and skills required for this position:



  • Excellent IT skills

  • Good understanding of E8 (EFACS) and its components

  • Be numerical

  • Have good attention to detail

  • Good organisational skills

  • Ability to prioritise workload and tasks

  • Good communication and leadership skills

  • The ability to think on your feel and problem solving ability

  • Understanding of the 8D process

  • Concern for standards, quality and impact

  • Result Orientated

  • Customer Focused

  • Ability to manage change and work effectively under pressure
