The IT Project Manager will be responsible for the successful project management and implementation of ICT lead projects which support the delivery of patient care both within the organization.



MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Lead and manage the successful implementation of IT projects that impact the Trust against agreed project plans to time and within constraints, using PRINCE 2 methodologies

  • Identify, build and manage multifunctional teams of both technical and non technical staff in line with Trust procedures and best practice

  • Provide professional project management to the Trust to assist departments with the delivery of applications, systems and technology solutions that realise real benefits for patients and the Trust

  • Apply expert IM&T knowledge and operational experience to the deployment of IT solutions

  • Produce and maintain the formal project documentation required throughout the project lifecycle including the production of policies and procedures

  • Participate in system procurements, including drafting of procurement documentation and supplier evaluations.

  • Develop and maintain strong communications links with key stakeholders, including Project Boards, conveying complex issues and negotiating desired outcomes

  • Work flexibly as a member of the ICT management team to ensure the Directorate delivers a high quality customer focused service

  • Liaise with counterparts in other Trusts, health communities and elsewhere to assist in the provision of ICT services where patient care is delivered across multiple locations and agencies

  • Identify the impact and support the operational change management resulting from the implementation of new IT systems across the Trust

  • Conduct technical IT based investigations and impact assessments on supplier products and implementation plans

  • Manage supplier relationships by establishing robust communications channels with supplier project managers to ensure timely product delivery and fitness for purpose

  • Participate in and play a lead role as required in local/ regional and national implementation forums to ensure the spread of best practice

  • Manage project risks and issues, mitigating them as far as possible and escalating them to the Project Board as required

  • Ensure the delivery of all anticipated and agreed benefits

  • Provide direct line management responsibility for substantive and project staff in line with Trust policies and best practice.

  • Deputise for the ICT Programme Manager as required



Key skills and Experience




  • PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent experience

  • Proven successful delivery of IT/Technical projects

  • Led projects

  • Experienced in a staff management role

  • Experience in implementing change

  • Thorough understanding of ICT issues

  • Be able to manage and deliver large scale IT projects

  • Confident user of MS Office and MS Project

  • Able to motivate and lead change

  • Able to quantify and balance competing requirements within projects

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to relate to, communicate with and influence staff at all levels in the organisation

  • Ability to understand the strategic overview whilst giving due attention to detail

  • Ability to identify opportunities, analyse options and develop creative solutions
