Our client within public sector is looking for a Project Manager (major projects) to join their Highways, Transport and Parking department. The role is offered on a 6 months contract basis paying £300- £350/day (umbrella rate/inside IR35)

The role holder will report into the Head of Parking and will project manage a wide range of parking related projects- ranging from production of new procedures, business processes, technology changes, re-tendering exercises, contracts as well as new build/maintenance projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and implement those projects assigned to the Annual Project Work Programme or as directed by the Head of Parking utilising Prince2 Project management principles as appropriate.

  • Manage the procurement and implementation of new projects be the new products, services and/or contracts.

  • Ensure specifications and product descriptions are sufficiently detailed to ensure the Council's risks are minimised.

  • Manage any change control and sign off process resulting from the implementation of a new project.

  • To ensure that agreed asset maintenance/improvement programmes are incorporated

  • Acting in a client capacity to the in-house property team

  • The post holder may occasionally be required to work evenings, weekends and public holidays, in order to meet service requirements

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Evidence of successful completion of projects in a similar role - on time and on budget essential .

  • Experience in preparation of contract documents and procurement essential.

  • Experience of identifying and controlling project risks.

  • Project Management experience for projects up to £1m value desirable.

  • Prince2 Practitioner desirable.

  • Knowledge of good project management techniques and risk assessments.

  • Knowledge of procurement processes and Council Standing Orders.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite essential and MS Project desirable
