JOB TITLE: Project Officer (Environmental Projects)
LOCATION: Sutton
PAY RATE: £14.51 PAYE or £18.78 Umbrella per hour
START DATE: ASAP

OVERVIEW:


This role reports to the Senior Sustainability Officer and the key purpose of the job is to:
● Support the implementation of aspects of the council's environment strategy and policies through working on projects, building partnerships and applying for funding.
● Inspire and motivate a variety of internal and external audiences to act on sustainability issues resulting in improved sustainability performance.
● Analyse, monitor and report sustainability performance against the council's environment targets and strategies.



ACCOUNTABILITIES;


● Develop, support and deliver successfully a range of sustainability projects which support the implementation of the council's environment strategy.
● Inspire and motivate others to deliver sustainability improvements through the provision of communications and community engagement on sustainability issues, both internally and externally.
● Monitor the implementation of the council's environment strategy and the council's environmental performance; and analyse and report on performance management data gathered.
● Promote and embed sustainability into council business to ensure improved sustainability performance including providing advice and assistance to internal teams on matters relating to environmental standards in contract procurement, contract management, council policy and strategy and projects.
● Assist in the identification and production of funding bids and other similar opportunities.



REQUIREMENTS:


● Ability to build effective relationships across teams and organisations, influence and gain
support for sustainability objectives, and take a flexible approach to new ideas and working
practices.
● Illustrate good use of a range of verbal and written communication skills for a variety of
audiences including interpreting and analysing data from a variety of sources, report writing,
briefs and presentations with creative use of communication techniques appropriate for
different audiences.
● Ability to manage conflicting priorities, handle a busy workload and meet challenging deadlines
with minimal supervision.
● An interest in environmental issues.
● Experience of assisting in the development and delivery of successful environmental
sustainability projects and initiatives (desirable).
● Up to date knowledge on environmental sustainability issues and policies relevant to Sutton
(desirable).
● Experience of developing and working with multi-agency partnerships (desirable).
● Experience of identifying opportunities for, and assisting in the production of funding bids
(desirable).
