JOB TITLE: Project Support Officer
LOCATION: Client based in East London


PAY RATE: £19 hourly paye /£24.26 umbrella
START DATE: ASAP
DURATION/Hours: 3 month initial contract/ 35 hours a week

Main purpose of the role:



  • To assist in the provision of a comprehensive project support service to the Capital Delivery Teams which includes the provision of support in project and data management responsibilities across the teams, making full use of IT systems.




  • Act as the Project Management Office (PMO) for Capital Delivery Projects, programme and project information, with the ability to work to a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The PMO will provide support to workstream leads across the project, working to fulfil the governance and reporting requirements.




  • To assist project managers in ensuring effective contact between partners, directorates and stakeholders, dealing with enquiries in a sensitive, efficient and accurate manner in an environment where there are competing demands, using initiative to seek solutions.



Duties and responsibilities:



  • Provide administrative services to project boards, project assurance teams and quality review meetings including agendas, minutes/action logs and follow up actions.




  • Set up project files, compile and distribute reports and assist with the compilation of project management reports, with the ability to work on own initiative and set priorities whilst working under pressure, meeting strict deadlines and working within set time-scales.

  • Provide assistance with the tracking and reporting of programme workstreams.

  • Managing and updating relevant project and workstream management tools, e.g. JCAD, and provide input and expertise to develop risk management processes.




  • Good working knowledge of local government office procedures and administrative systems, together with knowledge and understanding of project management techniques and tools, and experience of working in a complex, sensitive, multi-stakeholder environment.




  • First point of contact for enquiries, utilising iCasework to co-ordinate Freedom of Information Requests, Corporate Complaints and Members Enquiries. Collate and ensure responses within the target dates



Knowledge and experience:



  • Good working knowledge of local government office procedures and administrative systems.

  • IT literate in the use of Microsoft Office software packages, e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Knowledge and understanding of project management techniques and tools

  • Knowledge and understanding of finance/budgeting procedures

  • To have worked in a major capital project environment.

  • Experience of using computer systems such as spreadsheets and databases and producing work for senior level stakeholders/managers.

  • Experience of keeping accurate records, ensuring compliance with procedures, organising information, and producing accurate information on an ongoing basis.



  • To have acquired excellent and effective communication skills to include meeting customers and clients, dealing with queries and to have the ability to respond in writing and verbally, both face to face and whilst using a telephone/email.
