We are looking to appoint a Purchasing Co-ordinator who will be responsible for managing the Aluminium inventory. This role is an exciting opportunity to manage a critical product portfolio developing supplier and customer relationships.



Duties Include but are not limited to:



  • Efficient and effective re-ordering procedures to maximise stock availability and meet target levels

  • Ensure accurate recording of all quotations, purchases and amendments

  • Hard copy filing to be maintained in accordance with set parameters

  • Maintain integrity and accuracy of all computer data

  • Identify customer needs and take action to satisfy them

  • Source and negotiate with suppliers on behalf of customers where you can add value

  • Advise, support and guide customers in all aspects of sourcing where required

  • Take ownership of all customer complaints and handle without prejudice to ensure a satisfactory response and conclusion

  • Communicate all bad news verbally and confirm in writing

  • Update comment lines on Purchase Orders without exception

  • Invest time to develop personal relations with key suppliers/contacts

  • Identify and act upon opportunities to attain win/win outcomes



Skills/Experience Required:



  • Must have excellent planning and organisational skills, being able to organise and plan workload and change priorities when required

  • Must possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to react to complaints in a positive manner, as well as being able to build effective relationships with suppliers

  • Be computer literate, with exceptional administration skills maintaining records in a well organised and accessible way

  • Understanding of Quality Management System and knowledge of local objectives and procedures appropriate to the role

  • Up-to-date knowledge of Statutory and local Health and Safety procedures

  • Detailed knowledge of parts of Genesys Sales Order Processing system

  • Knowledge of the steel industry is advantageous
