World leading manufacturing organisation based in Beaminster are currently looking to recruit a quality control laboratory analyst to ensure ensure that the product created at the site is manufactured to the standard demanded by the market.


This Position contributes to the maintenance of company core values with regard to :



  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations

  • Ensuring product sold meets all regulatory and customer requirements and

  • Assists the company's reputation by ensuring product and the activities used to produce it are compliant with all regulatory and customer requirements.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS


























Chemical Analysis



� of nisin concentration (HPLC), and to ensure that all stages of production and the final product conforms to company specifications


� of Plant Support systems, to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards



Microbiological Analysis



� of all stages of production and the final product to ensure it conforms to company specifications


� of Plant Support systems, to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards


� to monitor plant hygiene


� to maintaining Culture Stocks



Hygiene (Technical) Audits



� participate in site hygiene audits to help maintain company safety and hygiene standards


� participate in site BBS (behavioural based safety) observational programme



Meetings



� attend and participate in all site, SHEQ, improvement and team meetings as appropriate



Company Databases



� maintain all site QC databases


� prepare data for morning and other meetings as appropriate


� provide technical advice to managers with regard to laboratory derived data and it's Interpretation




KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / SUCCESS CRITERIA



  • Efficient and accurate reporting of all analytical data

  • Helping to improve product yield by analysis and interpretation of laboratory results

  • Actively looking at ways to reduce the impact of the manufacturing operation to the environment

  • Reducing costs by laboratory analysis improvement - cheaper, quicker and more accurate


Comments:


Laboratory staff participate in all areas of the site's activities, both on a routine and non-routine basis.


They also undertake testing for product produced in the USA .



PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES


Either a pass degree in Food Science/Chemistry/Biochemistry/Microbiology or a laboratory qualification to HNC/HND level or equivalent with relevant experience working in food based laboratories.



NVQ level 3 or equivalent in science based studies with relevant experience working in food based laboratories will be considered.

  • Ability to perform both routine and non-routine tasks to a high degree of accuracy

  • Ability to work under pressure and to defined deadlines

  • Multi Tasker
