  1. Main purpose and scope of the post

  • To provide an efficient and effective recruitment service to all potential employees, managers, and visitors to the HR department.

  • Support managers throughout the recruitment process to ensure that the best possible candidates are recruited and retained so that the College can deliver excellent outcomes for its customers.

  • To provide efficient recruitment administrative support service to colleagues, demonstrating awareness of the impact of actions and using initiative to make recommendations for improvement.

  • Work collaboratively to provide a professional and customer focused HR Help Desk. Responding promptly to enquiries in a confident and confidential manner.

Main Activities and Responsibilities of the post


Ensure the delivery of an excellent recruitment service to managers, staff and applicants through provision of administrative and advisory support throughout the recruitment process.

Contact candidates to arrange interviews both verbally and electronically, prepare recruitment packs for interviews and ensure panel members have the relevant paperwork ahead of the interviews.

Meet and greet candidates on day of interview, as required.

Work with recruiting managers to ensure that they are kept fully up to date with the progress of their successful candidate.

Assist with any recruitment events or initiatives that the college undertakes throughout the year.

Check and verify professional registration and qualifications ensuring that there is sufficient evidence and also ensure that identity checks are completed accurately.

Ensure all new starter files are updated and filing is completed on a regular basis to meet the needs of Ofsted and other regulatory bodies.

Assist with recruitment related activities as and when directed by the HR Co-ordinator.

Provide support and cover for the HR Co-ordinator and undertake HR related duties such as photocopying, scanning, shredding, ordering stationery, post as requested.

To undertake any duties appropriate with the post and as directed by the HR Co-ordinator and / or the Director of HR.

HR related duties

  • Respond promptly to all enquiries in a confident and confidential manner. Ensure that supplies of information packs etc are readily available.

  • Meet and greet visitors in a welcoming manner and provide basic information or guidance as necessary, referring more complex enquiries to relevant colleagues.

  • To arrange meeting room facilities as necessary, including inspection of the allocated room(s); refreshments; equipment etc.

To open, date-stamp and distribute the HR department's post. To take out- going post to the post room.


To assist in producing management information as and when required.

Assist in ad hoc project work.

To assist in the monitoring and updating of the HR pages of the staff intranet as directed.

To maintain absolute confidentiality on all issues, and to deal with matters in a discrete, calm and professional manner.

  • Be committed to professional development, through participation in the College continuing professional development programme which includes commercial upskilling, staff learning days and training events appropriate to the job role.

  • Develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners as appropriate to the role.

  • Comply with and promote Safeguarding (including prevent), Data Protection and Health and Safety policies and procedures and to undertake recommended training as and when necessary.

  • Identify and manage risk effectively.

  • Undertake such other duties as required, commensurate with the grade of the post, as may be reasonably required at the initial place of work or at other locations in the College.

  • Support cross events such as Open Evenings and Enrolment sessions when required.

  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with all Procedures and as detailed in the Staff Handbook
