Pay - The rate of pay will be £11.51 - £12.65 depending on skills and experience. The shift allowance is 24.17%


  • Quarterly bonus with a max pay out of 20% (paid 10% in Q1)

A vacancy has arisen for a Team Worker, Refractories (Furnace Bricklayer) for our client in Sheffield. The position reports to the Unit Leader, Refractories.

Job Details and Responsibilities

The job holder is responsible for:

  • Providing a safe, flexible and efficient refractory maintenance service to the stainless steel melting shop, including wrecking and re-bricking steel making equipment.

  • Actively participating in and promote the continuous improvement programme within the refractories department.

  • Driving heavy machinery as well as forklift trucks, full training will be given accordingly.

Person Specification

The successful applicant should:

  • Be trained to City and Guilds level 2 in bricklaying or similar.

  • Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of bricklaying activities.

  • Be willing to work flexibly in a team to meet the operational demands of the business.

  • Experience of working in the steel industry is desirable.

Work Pattern

  • The Refractory team work a shift pattern of mornings 05:00-13:00 and afternoons, 13:00-21:00. On occasions the position holder may be asked to attend work for plant emergencies.
