Business Development Manager

(Regional covering Edmonton, Liverpool and Burton-on-Trent)

Primarily to be based at one of the above locations.

Salary 50-75K dependant on experience + Excellent Benefits

Adecco are extremely excited to be working with this Global manufacturer and supplier of Freight equipment. This role will have a focus on the Railway, so it would be very advantageous if applicants bring experience of working in the Railway sector with them.

They are looking for a Group Business Development Manager to join their successful team, responsible for the development of portfolios of assigned customers and the promotion of a new and exciting collaboration including breakthrough products and services in line with future growth plans.

Someone who has experience in Business Development in the Rail industry would be ideal, as well as knowledge of Networking, Persuasion, Prospecting, research, closing skills, a good motivation for sales, identification of customer needs and challenges and a desire to meet sales goals.


  • Research and build/enhance relationships with existing and new customers -Visit as appropriate to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities (meet potential customers by growing, maintaining, and leveraging contacts).

  • Identify decision makers within the customers' organisation.

  • Set up and lead meetings with customers' decision makers (supported by relevant company staff when relevant)

  • Plan approaches and pitches

  • Work with the Group functions and the relevant business units to develop proposals that meet the customers' needs, concerns, and objectives.

  • Present existing and new propositions (products and services) to targeted customers

  • Respond to RFQs issued by targeted customers

  • Arrange and participate in internal and external customer briefs and debriefs

Account Planning and Management

  • Identify and record opportunities that will lead to an increase in sales.

  • Using knowledge of the rail market and competitors support the development of the Group's unique selling propositions

  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market trends.

  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on market trends and


  • Submit monthly progress reports.

  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company's CRM or other sales management system.

  • Develop and manage account plans and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet the Group's targets.

  • Forecast sales targets.

  • Work with the Group Marketing Manager to support the development and deployment of the group marketing activities Understand the company's goal and purpose to enhance the company's performance.

  • Ensure compliance with company's procedures and corporate policies.

  • Deputise for the Group Sales and Marketing Director at an appropriate level, skill and competency when appropriate.

  • Any other duties as may be appropriate and agreed from time to time. Customers' business drivers with a view to developing new propositions to support the generation and deployment of winning strategies.
