Research and Development Engineer

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000/year

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting with development of products, new and existing.

  • Assisting product managers with concepts

  • Working with team to create solutions to any issues and improving processes

  • Providing guidance to team members

  • Assisting the Product and Sales Team when needed with design and quotations

  • Review Engineering Change Notes

  • Provide input to marketing material

  • Support CAD team


  • Trustworthy, honest and hardworking

Technical Skills

  • Brilliant knowledge of Solid Works and PDM environment

  • Organised with excellent attention to detail

  • Experience in cradle to grave project management and completing projects on time within budget

  • Effective communication skills on all levels

  • proven experience in process improvements within CAD data management

  • Excellent Microsoft office skills including, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook

  • Brilliant at problem solving and decision making

  • Certified Solid Works Associate

  • Experience in supplying to Petrochemical and equipment

  • Previous use of Sage ERP system

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD

  • Able to conduct FEA or Structural Analysis


  • Relevant degree, for example, BEng Mechanical Engineering or similar/equivalent


  • Proven experierence, at least 5yrs in a Research and Development role.

  • Proven experience of 5yrs in a very varied, low volume manufacturing environment.
