Our client, a leading London University are seeking a Research Coordinator for 6-10 Months to support the lead Professor undertaking at least two large research projects.

Role details:

  • Pay rate: £17.24/hr

  • Start date: ASAP

  • Location: South East London

  • Role Length: 6-10 Months

Role Purpose:

The post holder will work under the direction of a Professor and will oversee the development and running of research projects headed by , including two major projects, and will provide financial, operational, and strategic support.

Role Profile:

The post holder must be capable of working autonomously and liaising directly with internal & external stakeholders and colleagues in an independent manner. The post holder will use their initiative, discretion knowledge and experience in planning coordination, organisation and problem solving daily, The post holder must be able to receive understand and relay ideas or information which may be highly detailed and be able to give advice on administrative matters from time to time.

Research coordination and Administration

Responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the activities of research proposals and projects and teams led by the lead researcher within the department

  • Organising regular meetings for the relevant research teams, preparing agendas, taking and disseminate minutes and pursuing action points

  • Coordinating international visits, e.g. organising honorary contracts and visiting appointment for the relevant research teams. Acting as intermediary between external stakeholders and internal teams; responding proactively to enquiries.

  • Representing the relevant research teams as required by the lead researcher in meetings, conferences.

  • Circulating information relating to grant calls, conferences and team related matters to promote and support the activities of the research teams

  • Managing the team websites and assisting with content output

  • Contribute to the preparation and submission of ethical applications

  • Acting as initial point of contact for queries about the relevant projects

  • Prepare and arrange printed material to be produced on time and to budget for projects

Financial Management

  • Analyse financial information to provide forecasts and statistical reports for relevant projects

  • Monitor and manage all expenditure for the relevant projects, liaising closely with any collaborative administration teams to ensure accurate reporting.

  • Liaise with Research Grants and the EU Office in their preparation of financial reports to funders, and early and proactive identification of potential problems for relevant projects

  • Processing orders, invoices and expenses in accordance with the clients procedures, ensuring no budget overspend.

Staff Management

  • To identify team workload, in conjunction with academic staff, and give direction and set goals for individuals to ensure sufficient progress is sustained.

  • To deal with HR issues on behalf of the Head of Research Group

  • To coordinate the recruitment of project staff in consultation with HR and casual workers via clients Talent Bank.

  • Manage absence records for relevant projects

  • Coordinate staff induction process in liaison with Research Group's Business Support Manager

Service Delivery

  • Deliver services at a consistently high level as defined by the Project Investigator and Business Manager.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to upholding confidentiality and data protection regulations; ensuring sensitivity and respect is exemplified at all times to enable an efficient working environment.

  • Ensure a high level of accuracy and attention to detail is maintained when supporting in managing complex data and completing all routine tasks and responsibilities.

Team Work, Teaching and Learning Support (General Administration)

Responsibilities will include:

  • Attending department administrative meetings and relevant training to ensure knowledge of administrative systems and processes are upheld.

  • Assisting the Department Business Manager and Research Group Business Support Manager with administrative and project duties on an ad-hoc basis

  • Identifying, addressing and meeting professional development needs.

  • Supporting in the establishment and maintaining of reference databases in EndNote

Any other duties appropriate to the grade as directed by the supervisors
