Research Profile Data Officer role available in Nottingham NG7

Job specification:
In this role you will undertake a project to review a given number of research author profiles within the academic literature database, Your work will enhance the data in existing profiles by amending duplicate entries; cross-checking with local source information; and resolving missing or incomplete metadata. In addition to this you will be maintaining accurate records to aid future related work.

Duties and responsibilities



  • Identify existing author profiles for current University researchers, working from a shared spreadsheet of pre-populated data and formulas.

  • Check the published information against the University Research Information System (RIS), including author names, affiliations, researcher identifiers etc.

  • Work from a checklist of criteria to request merges and/or updates.

  • Maintain a record of missing metadata across the two systems, for use during related projects.

  • Collaborate with your peer and supervisor to avoid duplication and resolve anomalous cases.


Skills and experience
Essential



  • Experience working with data and formulas from spreadsheets

  • A demonstrable interest in academic publishing and/or library and information work

  • Attention to detail when checking information with an understanding of what constitutes good practice in ensuring data quality

  • Good communicator with experience in sharing best practice and collaborating with peers



Desirable



  • Postgraduate qualification with experience of conducting basic searches in Scopus or Web of Science

  • Experience of working with metadata and handling records in batches

  • An awareness of the use of machine-readable identifiers in publishing (Digital Object Identifier, ORCiD)
