Senior Buyer


Fixed Term Contract initially 9 Months

The roles main purpose is to manage suppliers, create and deliver effective sourcing plans which will drive out costs and deliver value, ensuring supply chain security and sustainability.


Alongside the Purchasing Manager, ensure category strategies are aligned to total category and group purchasing objectives.


Negotiate prices and contracts for the supply of direct materials and services, working with appropriate teams.


Qualities we look for;



  • Experienced in manufacturing operations, ideally across direct and indirect categories.

  • Commercially astute with a strong understanding of the financial drivers of goods and services.

  • A working knowledge of supply chain systems and processes within a manufacturing environment.

  • Relevant qualification in procurement / supply chain is beneficial

  • MCIPS qualified (or working towards) is desirable but not essential

  • Buyer experience in relatable environment

  • Able to work cross-functionally with other departments, manage partnerships and develop supply chain solutions, across multi-site agendas.


Technical Skills



  • Experienced in supplier management and supporting processes to drive change and improvement.

  • Negotiation skills and assertiveness to secure contracts that deliver value and ensure contractual and service commitments are achieved.

  • Ability to manage projects, successfully resolving issues and utilising internal network and relationships to reach solutions.

  • Ability to adapt to changes and make operational and commercial decisions in a change environment.

  • An understanding of contract management and managing suppliers to deliver the business KPIs and plan.

  • Broad stakeholder management experience and ability to influence at all levels.

  • Be numerate and able to manipulate financial data and spreadsheets, with good analytical skills.

  • Competent user of IT systems.

  • Knowledge of SAP Procurement modules.

Responsibilities;



  • Manage and maintain a robust network of suppliers to support Glass & Beverages production across production sites in Northern Ireland, England and Italy.

  • Negotiate and implement contracts with suppliers.

  • Deliver competitive pricing for all purchases linked to mechanics that can create value for the business.

  • Identify cost drivers and ensure they are visible to support both customer and internal initiatives.

  • Be the main point of contact to coordinate supplier related issues.

  • Lead supplier reviews and manage the supplier management process, delivering a continuous improvement agenda.

  • Drive the development and implementation of robust internal and external processes to optimise the procurement infrastructure.

  • Support projects and NPD.

  • Manage VA / VE projects, ensuring the suppliers proactively support the businesses to drive down costs, increase sales and improve efficiencies.

  • Cover for the Purchasing Manager as needed.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across common categories and spend.

  • Days: Mon-Thurs 8-5 Fri 8-2.30 38.75 hours
